WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – The executive order that President Trump signed suspending the collection of payroll taxes has focused attention again on Medicare and Social Security.
South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says keeping those programs funded has been and is a problem.
Rounds says those two programs are not now actively managed by Congress.
Rounds says that select committee could look at what is needed to extend the fiscal life of those two critical programs.
Some reports show Medicare may run short of funds as soon as 2022.
