WASHINGTON, D.C. (WNAX) – South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds says he wants the Corps of Engineers to modify how they release water out of the Missouri River system. He says he met with their leadership this week.
Rounds says he wants to avoid a repeat of the flooding of 2011.
Rounds says he recommended the Corps step up releases from Gavins Point Dam to drop levels on the bigger upstream reservoirs.
Rounds says the Corps predictions show Lake Oahe hitting the top of its flood storage later this month.
