PLATTE, S.D. (WNAX) – The rules to produce industrial hemp in South Dakota are slowly making progress.
Representative Lee Qualm of Platte says the state rules have been submitted to the federal government for review.
Qualm says the rules to grow and move the crop have been clarified.
Qualm says the Department of Public Safety has also approved the rules.
He says there will be a meeting for prospective producers later this month.
Qualm says he is confident there will be hemp planted in the state next spring.
