Run off into Missouri River expected to be above normal; flooding not expected

OMAHA, Neb. (WNAX) – Run off into the Missouri River system is expected to again be above normal this year, but flooding is not expected.

Mike Swenson is an engineer with the Corps of Engineers in Omaha.

Swenson says the big reservoir in South Dakota has room for mountain snowmelt.

Swenson says releases from Gavins Point Dam should remain fairly stable this year.

The Corps has said there could be localized flooding due to heavy rain in lower reaches of the Missouri River.
