WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)–Sanford Health has positioned itself to make a major move into Watertown in the future.
Documents obtained by KWAT News confirm the medical provider has purchased just under 10 acres of land for approximately $3.5 million.
Those documents filed with the Codington County Register of Deeds office show the land in question is located just north of Trav’s Outfitter between 8th Avenue Southeast and Willow Creek Drive.
After learning of this land acquisition, KWAT News reached out to Sanford for comment to see what their plans are.
Cindy Mydland is the director of Sanford Health Watertown Clinic, and through Sanford she emailed KWAT News a statement that reads, “Sanford Health continues to invest in the communities it serves by providing convenient care close to home. Sanford recently purchased land in the eastern part of Watertown. As the community of Watertown continues to grow, we want to ensure we are there for our patients by providing excellent access to health care. As of today, we have no immediate plans for the land and continue to look at ways to best serve Watertown and the surrounding communities.”
Sanford Health is a non-profit health care provider headquartered in Sioux Falls, with additional offices in Fargo and Bismarck, North Dakota, and Bemidji, Minnesota.
