International best-selling author Sarah Smarsh is visiting the K.O. Lee Public Library in Aberdeen today Thursday, April 25th.

Smarsh gives an introduction about her career and family background.

Smarsh speaks on how her passion for writing has been there since early childhood.

Smarsh discusses why she decided to write her memoir, “Heartland.”

Smarsh explains the new opportunities and responsibilities of being a journalist and sharing her story with the public.

One of Smarsh’s goals for her memoir, “Heartland” is to shed more light on the working class and rural America.

Smarsh also hopes that people with similar stories feel properly represented through her own experiences.

Smarsh credits and thanks the BIG Read – Aberdeen program for all of the work they put into making this author event a reality.
