PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Wednesday, the South Dakota House debated SB155 which dealt with the funding for the construction & renovations for regional jails across South Dakota.

Representative Carl Perry of Aberdeen talks about what the bill does.

Perry discuss state government needing to help the counties.

Among those oppose to the bill was the House Majority Will Mortenson of Pierre.  Mortenson talks about the funding for the jail should be the responsibility of the counties themselves.

Mortenson talk about this being unprecedented.

The South Dakota House voted against the bill on a 54-14 vote.
