PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A South Dakota Senate Committee passed a bill last week designed to take confusion out buying grain for ag producers. Senate Bill 22 amends language regarding the licensing period for a grain buyer. South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner Chris Nelson says the bill comes from a case the P-U-C handled last year.
Nelson says bill lays out the change only impacts Class B license holders.
The bill also found support from Kathy Zander, executive director of the South Dakota Agribusiness Association.
The bill also had support from the South Dakota Association of Cooperatives . There was no opposition to the measure. The bill passed the Senate Ag and Natural Resources Committee on a unanimous vote. Senate Bill 22 was certified for the consent calendar in the South Dakota Senate. The 99th Legislative session resumes Tuesday at the State Capitol in Pierre.
