SB45 clears the South Dakota Senate

PIERRE, S.D.(SDBA)- The South Dakota Senate Wednesday passes a bill that would end the Board of Regents issuing an annual report regarding intellectual diversity and free exchange of ideas at state universities.
Sponsor of Senate Bill 45, Republican Sen. Lee Schoenbeck (Show-in-beck) of Watertown.
Schoenbeck said the report might make a good doorstop.
Republican Sen. Tom Pischke (Pish-key) of Dell Rapids spoke in support of keeping the report.
Pischke also said some conservative students were threatened with arrest last year at Black Hills State University, and that information would be in the following report.
The measure to do away with the report passed 21 to 12.
The bill now goes to a House committee.
