PIERRE, S.D. (KCCR) – An old scam is targeting a Pierre area law enforcement agency. Sheriff Darin Johnson says last weekend the scammers were taking aim at the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson says his office and other law enforcement agencies don’t use phone calls to deal with warrants and tickets.

Johnson says active warrants handled by deputies and making contact in person with someone who has one.
