YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) – The Yankton School District is moving toward a possible property tax opt out due to revenues falling short of rising expenses.

Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton says more districts may have to go that route due to flattening state revenues.

Hunhoff says the expected requests to the legislature will grow.

Hunhoff says the Board of Regents will ask for dollars for a needs based scholarship.

Hunhoff is a member of the budget writing Appropriations Committee.
