School Records Go Down In Brookings

Brookings, SD (NSUWolves.com) [Day 1] – Northern State University track and field had a small group of athletes compete in day one of the SDSU Classic meet. Events the Wolves competed in included the 3000m, 5000m, and pole vault.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Nathan Alto was 18th in the 5000m in a time of 15:05.39
  • Evan Halbe and Jacob Angerhofer took 30th and 34th in the 5000m with times of 15:37.53 and 15:48.65; Chase Smith and Taylor Thorson placed 58th and 62nd in 16:49.60 and 17:05.06
  • Sam Tremelling took fourth in the pole vault event with a height of 4.75m
  • Noah FordBirnir Vagn Finnsson, and Sean Juengst placed 12th, 15th, and 20th with marks of 4.15m, 4.00m, and 3.70m in pole vault

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Megan Pickering took eighth in the 3000m distance race crossing the finish line in 10:15.98
  • Adisen Stadem was 45th in the 3000m with a time of 11:32.73
  • The 5000m was run by Jenna Helms in a time of 20:06.20 for a 47th place finish
  • Bekah Walz and Gracie Eisenbraun placed third and tenth in pole vault with marks of 3.15m and 3.00m

Brookings, SD (NSUWolves.com) [Day 2]  – Northern State University track and field competed in day two of the SDSU Classic. Wolves notched four top ten finishes, two new school records, and multiple new personal records.

MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • In the one mile event Josh Martin placed 16th in a time of 4:15.16
  • Drew Salfrank, Seth Martins, and Carter Dingman all competed in the 400m placing 7th, 18th, and 23rd in times of 48.86, 50.08, and 50.44
  • Turner Thorson placed 17th in the 600m event which placed him 17th
  • Ricky Berndt and Jonathan Burkhalter ran to places of 17th and 22nd in times of 2:33.05 and 2:35.20
  • In the 60m hurdles Joel Matehs placed 12th in 8.35 seconds
  • Chris Weber and Noah Bayer placed 9th and 17th in the 60m dash completing it in 6.90 and 7.00
  • Bayer placed 19th in the 200m in a time of 22.54
  • Nick Olson placed 13th in the weight throw field event with a mark of 16.88m
  • In the high jump Max Vande KieftCarter Moller, and Vance Borchers placed 17th, 23rd, and 25th with heights of 1.83m, 1.78m, and 1.78m
  • Treyson Schulz placed 12th in the long jump with a distance of 6.44m
  • Olson and Ethan Barnett placed 14th and 24th in the shot put with throws of 14.67m and 13.75m
  • Treyson Schulz placed 22nd in the triple jump with a mark of 12.46m
  • Men’s 4x400m relay placed 6th in a time of 3:19.12 with athletes Drew SalfrankCarter DingmanJoel Matehs, and Seth Martens

WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS

  • Megan Pickering placed 16th in the one mile race with a new record of 5:03.87
  • Kyanna Collymore took 15th crossing the finish line in 58.55
  • Jordan West ran the 600m middle distance race in a time of 1:55.20 which placed her 20th in the event
  • Summer Carlson finished 20th in the 800m in a time of 2:19.15
  • In the 1000m race Jolie Dugan placed 22nd with a time of 3:20.76
  • Morgan Sheldon ran the 60m hurdles and placed 12th with a time of 9.11
  • Jordan TschumperlinEmily Breske, and Tayla Dobrenski competed in high jump placing 7th, 21st, and 23rd with heights of 1.58m, 1.53m, and 1.48m
  • Cassidy Gough threw to a 12th place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.31m
  • Women’s 4x400m relay with athletes Kyanna Collymore, Osk Elisabet Jonsdottir, Summer Carlson, and Vanessa Christensen placed 14th with a time of 4:11.70

BEYOND THE RESULTS

  • Senior Megan Pickering improved her mark from 2 weeks ago to beat her Northern State mile record 5:05.71 with a time of 5:03.86
  • Men’s 4x400m relay broke their own record from the D2 open meet, dropping the time from 3:19.23 to 3:19.12
  • Personal records that were broken by the women this weekend included Olivia Ashley (weight throw), Tayla Dobrenski (200m & 60m hurdles), Jolie Dugan (1000m), Alli Jackson (400m), Elisabet Osk Jonsdottir (400m), Megan Pickering (mile), Morgan Sheldon (60 hurdles), Adisen Stadem (3000m), Chloe Strom (800m), and Jordan West (600m)
  • Personal records that were broken by the men included Chris Weber (60m & 200m), Noah Bayer (60m), Nathan Alto (5000m), Jacob Angerhofer (5000m), Ricky Berndt (1000m), Jonathan Burkhalter (1000m), Carter Dingman (400m), Dalton Fleckenstein (Mile), Evan Halbe (5000m), Ty Kadlec (200m), Ross Kortenbusch (60m, 400m, & shot put), Jesse Pietz (60m), Damon Roggenbuck (400m), Drew Salfrank (400m), Dylan Schimke (800m), Blake Stoks (800m), Taylor Thorson (5000m), and Turner Thorson (600m)

Wolves compete in their last regular season meet this Friday, February 16th at the SDSU Last Chance meet. This will be the last chance for athletes to solidify a place at the NSIC Indoor Championships.
