PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 11 more COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations continued to drop, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included one in Roberts County) moved the state’s overall death toll to 1,667. The state had 116 new confirmed cases and 153 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by 49 to 4,613. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus fell by 10 to 203.
So far, South Dakota has had 105,659 confirmed cases and 99,379 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had four new confirmed cases and 14 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 236. In all, the county has had 4,773 confirmed cases and 4,462 recoveries. There have been 75 deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,425 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,057, and Lincoln County with 7,240. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,673, Brookings with 3,306, Davison with 2,848, Lawrence with 2,711, and Yankton with 2,689.
