PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 15 more COVID-related deaths, while active infections rose slightly and hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included two in Brown County) move the state’s overall death toll to 1,629. The state had 425 new confirmed cases, inching the active cases up to 4,732. The number of individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus decreased by 17 down to 227.
So far, South Dakota has had 104,937 active cases and 98,576 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 18 new confirmed cases as well as 18 recoveries. The county’s active infections number 261. There have been 72 COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,288 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,982, and Lincoln County with 7,190. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,652, Brookings with 3,268, Davison with 2,844, Lawrence with 2,692, and Yankton with 2,613.
