SD adds 18 more COVID-related deaths; active cases, hospitalizations decrease

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 18 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations continued to drop, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths bring the state’s overall total to 1,464. Active infections decreased slightly down to 5,729, while those individuals hospitalized in connection to the virus were down slightly to 293.

So far, the state has had 98,720 confirmed cases and 91,527 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 25 new cases and 23 new recoveries, increasing active cases slightly to 238. In all, the county has had 4,399 confirmed cases and 4,104 recoveries. There have been 57 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 24,896 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,117, and Lincoln County with 6,758. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,421, Brookings with 2,956, Davison with 2,707, Lawrence with 2,541, Yankton with 2,510, and Beadle with 2,502.
