SD adds 19 more COVID-related deaths; active cases, hospitalizations up slightly

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 19 new COVID-related deaths, and saw a slight increase in active infections and hospitalizations, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included one in Day County) increase the state’s overall death toll to 1,604. There were 432 new confirmed cases and 422 new recoveries, increasing active cases to 4,762. There were 13 more individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus moving that total to 253.

In all, South Dakota has had 104,195 confirmed cases and 97,829 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County’s totals remained relatively unchanged. There were 23 new confirmed cases as well as 23 recoveries and no new deaths. So far, the county has had 4,705 confirmed cases and 4,373 recoveries. There have been 68 deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,117 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,881, and Lincoln County with 7,142. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,632, Brookings with 3,237, Davison with 2,832, Lawrence with 2,672, and Yankton with 2,601.
