SD adds 24 more COVID-related deaths; active cases continue to drop

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 24 more COVID-related deaths, while active cases continued to drop and hospitalizations remained the same, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included two in Brown County, and one each in Day County and Edmunds County) moved the state’s overall death toll to 1,763. The state had 187 new confirmed cases and 264 recoveries, lowering active infections by 101 to 3,137. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus stayed the same at 161.

So far, South Dakota has had 107,795 confirmed cases and 102,895 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 19 new cases and 18 recoveries. The county currently has 163 active cases. Overall, the county has had 4,899 confirmed cases and 4,657 recoveries.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,895 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,310, and Lincoln County with 7,422. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,726, Brookings with 3,404, Davison with 2,888, Lawrence with 2,744, and Yankton with 2,727.
