PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 24 more COVID-related deaths, active infections decreased slightly, and hospitalizations went up a tick according to numbers released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included three in Brown County, and one each in Faulk County, Potter County and Roberts County) moved the state’s death toll to 1,488.
South Dakota had 445 new confirmed cases and 453 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 5,696. Those individuals hospitalized in connection with the virus went up four to 297. So far, the state has had 99,164 confirmed cases and 91,980 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 27 new confirmed cases and 11 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 254. Overall, the county has had 4,426 confirmed cases and 4,115 recoveries. There have been 60 COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 24,977 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,197, and Lincoln County with 6,780. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,452, Brookings with 2,981, Davison with 2,718, Lawrence with 2,555, Yankton with 2,514, and Beadle with 2,509.
