PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 25 more COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased by more than 300 and hospitalizations remained the same, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included two in Brown County and one in Edmunds County) raised the state’s overall death toll to 1,544. There were 448 new confirmed cases and 735 recoveries, lowering active infections to 6,075. The number of people who are hospitalized in connection with the virus remained at 264.
So far, South Dakota has had 102,132 confirmed cases and 94,513 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 23 new cases and 22 recoveries. The county currently has 305 active infections. Overall, the county has had 4,593 confirmed cases and 4,223 recoveries. There have been 65 COVID-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 25,672 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,673, and Lincoln County with 6,993. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,566, Brookings with 3,131, Davison with 2,762, Lawrence with 2,625, Yankton with 2,560, and Beadle with 2,536.
