SD adds 31 more COVID-deaths; active cases, hospitalizations decrease

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 31 more COVID-related deaths, had a decrease of more than 1,300 active cases and saw hospitalizations drop by 15 according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. Brown County, Faulk County and Roberts County each had two deaths. Minnehaha County had six deaths, Hughes four, Codington three, Beadle, Bon Homme and Gregory two each, and Clay, Lincoln, McCook, Meade, Sully and Ziebach one each. The state’s death total is now 705.

The state had 1,071 new confirmed cases and 2,406 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections by 1,356 to 17,884. There are currently 578 people hospitalized in association with the virus.

In all, South Dakota has had 69,742 confirmed cases and 51,153 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 48 new confirmed cases and 104 recoveries, lowering the amount of active cases to 655. So far, the county has had 3,075 confirmed cases and 2,408 recoveries. There have been 12 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 18,013 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 7,469, and Lincoln County with 4,775. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,347, Brookings with 2,167, Beadle with 2,076, Davison with 2,066, Lawrence with 1,757, Meade with 1,516, and Oglala Lakota with 1,477.
