SD adds 31 more COVID-related deaths; active cases up, hospitalizations down

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state saw an additional 31 COVID-related deaths, had an increase in active cases of nearly 500, and had a decrease in hospitalizations according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included three in Brown County, one in Edmunds County and one in Spink County) increased the overall death toll to 1,064. The state reported 1,050 new confirmed cases and 568 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections by 482 to 15,925. The number of people hospitalized in association with the virus dropped by 22 down to 516.

In all, South Dakota has had 84,398 confirmed cases and 67,409 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 45 new confirmed cases and 23 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections by 22 to 645. So far, the county has had 3,792 confirmed cases and 3,118 recoveries. There have been 29 total COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 21,369 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 9,153, and Lincoln County with 5,633. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,827, Brookings with 2,546, Davison with 2,468, Beadle with 2,351, Lawrence with 2,152, Yankton with 2,003, and Meade with 1,853.
