SD adds 34 more COVID-related deaths; active cases down, hospitalizations up

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 34 more COVID-related deaths, while active infections continued to decrease and hospitalizations edged up, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included two in Brown County and one in Day County) increased the state’s death toll to 1,739. The state had 230 new confirmed cases and 384 recoveries, lowering active cases by 190 to 3,238. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus increased by nine to 161.

So far, South Dakota has had 107,608 confirmed cases and 102,631 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 19 new confirmed cases and 11 recoveries, increasing active infections to 163. In all, the county has had 4,879 confirmed cases and 4,639 recoveries. There have been 77 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,861 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,295, and Lincoln County with 7,411. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,720, Brookings with 3,389, Davison with 2,884, Lawrence with 2,742, and Yankton with 2,723.
