SD adds 39 more COVID-related deaths; active cases, hospitalizations decrease

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added 39 more COVID-related deaths, while active infections and hospitalizations continued a downward trend according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included three each in Brown County and Roberts County, and one each in Marshall Day and Day County), moved the state’s death total to 1,300.

South Dakota had 492 confirmed cases and 1,397 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 10,987, the lowest total since late October. The number of individuals hospitalized by the virus dropped by 23 down to 412.

The state has had 92,603 confirmed cases and 80,316 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 28 new confirmed cases and 47 recoveries, lowering the amount of active infections to 434. Overall, the county has had 4,120 confirmed cases and 3,639 recoveries. There have been 47 total deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 23,455 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 10,218, and Lincoln County with 6,220. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,204, Brookings with 2,769, Davison with 2,601, Beadle with 2,438, Lawrence with 2,368, and Yankton with 2,271.
