SD adds 47 more COVID-related deaths; active cases up, hospitalizations down

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 47 additional COVID-related deaths (including three in Brown County), had an increase of more than 800 active cases, and saw hospitalizations dip by 16 according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths raised the state’s death toll to 995. The state had 1,291 new confirmed cases and 475 recoveries, increasing active infections by 816 to 14,857. There are currently 531 people hospitalized in association with the virus.

So far, South Dakota has had 82,203 confirmed cases and 66,351 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 72 new confirmed cases and 26 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 629. In all, the county has had 3,729 confirmed cases and 3,076 recoveries. There have been 24 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 20,947 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 8,912, and Lincoln County with 5,523. Other counties totals include Codington with 2,745, Brookings with 2,483, Davison with 2,435, Beadle with 2,325, Lawrence with 2,097, Yankton with 1,822, and Meade with 1,809.
