SD adds six COVID-related deaths; active cases, hospitalizations drop

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added six more COVID-related deaths, while active infections and hospitalizations continued to drop, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths moved the state’s overall death toll to 1,673. There were 337 new confirmed cases and 345 recoveries, lowering active cases to 4,089. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decreased by 10 to 185.

In all, South Dakota has had 106,400 confirmed cases and 100,638 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 14 new confirmed cases and 16 recoveries, decreasing active infections slightly to 197. The county has had 4,811 confirmed cases and 4,539 recoveries. There have been 75 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 26,592 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,139 and Lincoln County with 7,314. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,701, Brookings with 3,341, Davison with 2,860, Lawrence with 2,723, and Yankton with 2,706.
