SD adds six more deaths; active infections up, hospitalizations down

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state added six more COVID-related deaths, and saw an increase in active infections and a decrease in hospitalizations, according to totals released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The deaths (which included one in McPherson County) moved the state’s overall death total to 1,519. There were 607 new confirmed cases and 249 recoveries, increasing active cases to 6,387. There were six less people hospitalized in connection with the virus dropping that total to 264.

Overall, the state has had 101,684 confirmed cases and 93,778 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 36 new confirmed cases and 14 recoveries, increasing the amount of active infections to 306. In all, the county has had 4,570 confirmed cases and 4,201 recoveries. There have been 63 COVID-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 25,579 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 11,614, and Lincoln County with 6,968. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,543, Brookings with 3,092 Davison with 2,753, Lawrence with 2,619, Yankton with 2,555, and Beadle with 2,533.
