PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- The South Dakota Aeronautics Commission has approved a letter of comment relating to the North Bend Wind Farm. The North Bend project is proposed for an area along the Hughes and Hyde County line near land owned by Michael and Judi Bollweg. Aeronautics Commission Chair Eric Odenbach says the Public Utilities Commission’s intervenor deadline has passed.
Department of Transportation Legal Counsel Dustin DeBoer says the Commission has two avenues that would connect to a wind farm project under Title 50.
DeBoer says he consulted with the P-U-C’s legal team about how the Aeronautics Commission could move forward.
The Bollwegs are the lone intervenors on the project docket with the P-U -C and reached out the Aeronautics Commission for support against the project, citing safety concerns for aerial applicator planes flying near the wind towers.
