SD businesses call on US Congress to reform immigration

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakotas largest business and ag groups are banding together to call on Congress to follow up on immigration reform and protect the “Dreamers”, children who were brought to the US at a young age.

Kari Karst, President of BX Civil & Construction of Sioux Falls says they and many other construction companies could not operate without immigrant labor.

Don Haggar with the South Dakota chapter of Americans for Prosperity says Congress has failed to act for years.

Debra Owen with the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce says the flow of immigrants to the state has slowed over the past few years.

Others backing the initiative include the state Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Retailers Association, Associated General Contractors, and Dairy Producers.
