PIERRE, S.D.(Press Release)- In support of statements released Tuesday, October 26, 2021 by South Dakota Legislators calling for a Special Session to discuss the ongoing Covid exemption discriminations and policies facing the state and nation, concerned citizens and grass-roots organizations from across South Dakota will converge at the state capital in Pierre, SD, Monday, November 8, 2021 at 8 am for a “Mandate Freedom” rally.
“This gathering of South Dakota Citizens is necessary because thus far, they have gone unheard and even mocked by some Legislators”, says Mya Olson, founder of Heath Freedom of South Dakota, one of many grass roots organizations coming together for this Rally. “Our requests to protect our God-given, Unalienable Rights are not parade candy”.
“Because of the strong-arming some of the largest employers in South Dakota are doing to their employees, threating their livelihoods, discriminating against their beliefs and medical issues, I’ve been helping people across this state understand and stand up for their rights.”
The “Mandate Freedom” rally goers, individual citizens from all political parties and backgrounds, are calling for legislators to hear their concerns during a Special Session and create a bill protecting SD citizens by safe guarding their “medical, religious and naturally immune” exemptions requests.
Olson added, “Weeks ago, we were told Governor Noem said she would not call for a Special Session but that Legislators could.” Thousands of emails, messages and phone calls have been sent asking for SD citizens to be heard through a Special Session. “With the Redistricting Session meeting, this is the time for them to see us in person”, Olson said. “We are real people with real concerns. It’s a sad day when we have to beg to be even heard, but it’s an even sadder day when people call distraught that their livelihoods are thrown at the drop of a pen and they’re no longer essential.”
The rally starts at 8am, feature guest speakers, have meet and greet with Legislators and more. The event may continue Tuesday, November 9th pending Legislative action.
