PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- Members of the Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature spent quite a bit of time at their meeting last week questioning the process and procedures governing the June primary election. Secretary of State Steve Barnett was questioned about poll workers and their training.
Senator Reynold Nesiba of Sioux Falls says he didn’t like the tone of the questioning.
Nesiba says he saw the precinct issues first hand.
He says legislators are responsible for the problems by splitting legislative districts and the resulting precincts.
Nesiba says there has been a lot of turnover in election workers.
The committee didn’t have any immediate recommendations on election law changes.
