SD Dept of Health added 14 COVID-19 related deaths, active cases went up while hospitalizations went down

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 14 new COVID-related deaths(including 1 in Brown County & 1 in Edmunds County), while active cases increases while hospitalizations decreases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,829. The state had 279 new confirmed cases and 207 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,209. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 104.

So far, South Dakota has had 109,859 confirmed cases and 105,821 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 11 new cases and 14 recoveries. The county currently has 131 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,038 confirmed cases and 4,827 recoveries. There’s now 80 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,408 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,559, and Lincoln County with 7,566. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,839, Brookings with 3,509, Davison with 2,919, Lawrence with 2,7726 and Yankton with 2,765.

Statewide 92,118 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 13% of the state) with 42,659 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,759 receiving at least one shot & 2,093 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
