PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations decreases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,831. The state had 209 new confirmed cases and 236 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,180. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 84.
So far, South Dakota has had 110,068 confirmed cases and 106,057 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 14 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 132 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,052 confirmed cases and 4,840 recoveries. There’s currently 80 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,455 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,580, and Lincoln County with 7,577. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,856, Brookings with 3,519, Davison with 2,924, Lawrence with 2,781 and Yankton with 2,765.
Statewide 98,167 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 14% of the state) with 44,847 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination. Brown County has 4,511 receiving at least one shot & 2,115 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
