SD Dept of Health added 5 new COVID-19 related deaths, active cases & hospitalization continues to decline

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations dropped, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,809. The state had 97 new confirmed cases and 148 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,316. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 113.

So far, South Dakota has had 109,229 confirmed cases and 105,104 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 8 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 160 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,016 confirmed cases and 4,777 recoveries. There remains 79 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,257 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,494, and Lincoln County with 7,522. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,788, Brookings with 3,475, Davison with 2,910, Lawrence with 2,766, and Yankton with 2,759.

Statewide 85,604 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine with 378,661 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,660 receiving at least one shot & 1,886 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
