SD Dept of Health added 6 COVID-19 deaths, active cases drops while hospitalization went up

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths(including 2 in Brown County), while active cases decreases, hospitalizations increases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,844. The state had 110 new confirmed cases and 150 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,073. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus increase to 87.

So far, South Dakota has had 110,315 confirmed cases and 106,398 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 7 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 112 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,062 confirmed cases and 4,867 recoveries. There’s currently 83 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,505 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,616, and Lincoln County with 7,588. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,872, Brookings with 3,535, Davison with 2,924, Lawrence with 2,789 and Yankton with 2,771.

Statewide 103,895 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 15% of the state) with 49,097 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 4,959 receiving at least one shot & 2,443 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
