SD Dept of Health added 7 COVID-19 related deaths, active cases & hospitalization continues to decline

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths(including 1 in Brown County), while active cases and hospitalizations decreases, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,838. The state had 137 new confirmed cases and 191 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,119. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 82.

So far, South Dakota has had 110,205 confirmed cases and 106,248 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 117 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,055 confirmed cases and 4,857 recoveries. There’s currently 81 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,488 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,601, and Lincoln County with 7,581. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,863, Brookings with 3,531, Davison with 2,924, Lawrence with 2,785 and Yankton with 2,769.

Statewide 101,053 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 15% of the state) with 46,805 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 4,583 receiving at least one shot & 2,384 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
