SD Dept of Health looking to improve EMS services

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Department of Health wants to find help for local emergency and ambulance services.

Department Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon told the Covid Liaison Committee that many of those services are struggling.

Katelin Thomas, head of the Office of Rural Health, would put money toward equipment for ambulances.

Malsam-Rysdon says they also want to reconfigure the emergency service regions across the state.

The request, along with many others will be forwarded to the Governor ahead of her budget speech next month.
