SD Dept of Health reported 1 COVID-19 death for the weekend, over 50% of state now has at least one COVID-19 vaccine shot

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,947. The state had 187 new cases and 174 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,425. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 96.

So far, South Dakota has had 119,892 cases and 115,520 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 8 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 92 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,395 cases and 5,212 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 30,513 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,376, and Lincoln County with 8,424. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,301, Brookings with 4,005, Davison with 3,156, Yankton with 2,985, and Lawrence with 2,916.

Statewide 303,040 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 50% of the state) with 213,485 completing vaccination(over 35% of the state).  Brown County has 14,776 receiving at least one shot & 10,084 completing vaccination.
