SD Dept of Health reported 3 new COVID-19 deaths, active cases above 2,000

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased while hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,896. The state had 232 new cases and 166 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,056. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 87.

So far, South Dakota has had 113,065 cases and 109,113 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 74 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,157 confirmed cases and 4,994 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,175 cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,962, and Lincoln County with 7,807. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,012, Brookings with 3,602, Davison with 2,959, Lawrence with 2,831 and Yankton with 2,810.

Statewide 154,334 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 27% of the state) with 83,036 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(over 14% of the state).  Brown County has 6,725 receiving at least one shot & 4,091 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
