SD Dept of Health reported 3 new COVID-19 deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths(1 in Brown County), while active cases & hospitalizations both went down, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,847. The state had 187 new confirmed cases and 187 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,068. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 92.

So far, South Dakota has had 110,871 confirmed cases and 106,956 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 82 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,076 confirmed cases and 4,910 recoveries. There’s currently 84 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,640 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,691, and Lincoln County with 7,629. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,912, Brookings with 3,548, Davison with 2,932, Lawrence with 2,795 and Yankton with 2,783.

Statewide 110,759 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 16% of the state) with 53,640 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 5,440 receiving at least one shot & 2,596 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
