SD Dept of Health reported 5 COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,933. The state had 248 new cases and 280 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,443. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 77.

So far, South Dakota has had 117,081 cases and 112,705 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 13 new cases and 6 recoveries. The county currently has 66 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,276 cases and 5,119 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 29,491 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,226, and Lincoln County with 8,165. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,190, Brookings with 3,785, Davison with 3,085, Yankton with 2,904, and Lawrence with 2,886.

Statewide 242,294 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 41% of the state) with 157,124 completing vaccination(under 27% of the state).  Brown County has 11,415 receiving at least one shot & 7,104 completing vaccination.
