SD Dept of Health reported in 3 new COVID-19 related deaths, no briefing scheduled for today

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 3 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,904. The state had 210 new cases and 189 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,114. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 73.

So far, South Dakota has had 113,962 cases and 109,944 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 4 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 73 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,183 confirmed cases and 5,021 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,449 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,026, and Lincoln County with 7,894. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,052, Brookings with 3,630, Davison with 2,982, Lawrence with 2,8378 and Yankton with 2,827.

Statewide 173,596 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 30% of the state) with 92,563 completing vaccination(over 16% of the state).  Brown County has 7,882 receiving at least one shot & 5,118 completing vaccination.

South Department of Health will not be holding a press briefing today as starting March they will meet biweekly.  Next scheduled briefing is March 17th.
