SD Dept of Health reported in 5 COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 5 new COVID-related deaths(1 in Brown County), while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,893. The state had 181 new cases and 158 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,993. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 97.

So far, South Dakota has had 112,833 cases and 108,947 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 69 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,147 confirmed cases and 4,989 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,131 cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,938, and Lincoln County with 7,784. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,007, Brookings with 3,599, Davison with 2,957, Lawrence with 2,831 and Yankton with 2,804.

Statewide 150,076 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 26% of the state) with 79,686 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(over 13% of the state).  Brown County has 6,493 receiving at least one shot & 3,547 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
