SD Dept of Health reported 6 COVID-19 related deaths while active cases and hospitalizations both dropped

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations dropped, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,788. The state had 174 new confirmed cases and 203 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,517. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 126.

So far, South Dakota has had 108,813 confirmed cases and 104,508 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 20 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 165 active cases. Overall, the county has had 4,986 confirmed cases and 4,741 recoveries. There remains 80 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,149 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,444, and Lincoln County with 7,497. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,769, Brookings with 3,450, Davison with 2,908, Lawrence with 2,759, and Yankton with 2,749.

Statewide 76,454 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine with 33,232 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,459 receiving at least one shot & 1,602 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
