SD Dept of Health reported in 7 COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,879. The state had 143 new confirmed cases and 140 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 1,944. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 96.

So far, South Dakota has had 112,107 confirmed cases and 108,284 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 7 new cases and 5 recoveries. The county currently has 61 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,117 confirmed cases and 4,968 recoveries. There’s currently 88 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,925 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,871, and Lincoln County with 7,723. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,974, Brookings with 3,579, Davison with 2,945, Lawrence with 2,819 and Yankton with 2,798.

Statewide 136,143 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 24% of the state) with 71,800 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(over 12% of the state).  Brown County has 6,165 receiving at least one shot & 3,362 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
