PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths(3 in Brown County), while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,872. The state had 164 new confirmed cases and 91 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,948. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 100.
So far, South Dakota has had 111,964 confirmed cases and 108,144 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 3 new cases and 2 recoveries. The county currently has 59 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,110 confirmed cases and 4,963 recoveries. There’s currently 88 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,884 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,860, and Lincoln County with 7,710. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,970, Brookings with 3,575, Davison with 2,945, Lawrence with 2,817 and Yankton with 2,796.
Statewide 130,148 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 23% of the state) with 66,902 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(under 12% of the state). Brown County has 6,139 receiving at least one shot & 3,129 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
