SD Dept of Health reported no new deaths due to COVID for 2nd straight day

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths for the 2nd straight day, while active cases & hospitalizations both went up, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death remains at 1,844. The state had 215 new confirmed cases and 105 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,204. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus increase to 97.

So far, South Dakota has had 110,593 confirmed cases and 106,545 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 4 new cases and 9 recoveries. The county currently has 107 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,070 confirmed cases and 4,880 recoveries. There’s currently 83 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,575 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,653, and Lincoln County with 7,609. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,889, Brookings with 3,542, Davison with 2,926, Lawrence with 2,792 and Yankton with 2,778.

Statewide 104,915 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 15% of the state) with 50,345 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 4,971 receiving at least one shot & 2,452 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
