SD Dept of Health reports 1 COVID-19 death, active cases below 1,000 for first time since early August

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases decreased  & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,989. The state had 83 new cases and 148 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 936(lowest since early August). Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 68.

So far, South Dakota has had 123,599 cases and 120,674 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 2 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 61 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,578 cases and 5,425 recoveries. There’s currently 92 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,594 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,742, and Lincoln County with 8,684, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,637, Brookings with 4,210, Davison with 3,232, Yankton with 3,090, and Lawrence with 2,986.

Statewide 336,558 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 56% of the state) with 305,886 completing vaccination(over 50% of the state).  Brown County has 16,240 receiving at least one shot & 14,991 completing vaccination.
