SD Dept of Health reports 1 COVID-19 related death over the weekend

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – Over the weekend the state reported 1 new COVID-related death(in Brown County), while active cases increased while hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,923. The state had 250 new cases and 237 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 2,244. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 62.

So far, South Dakota has had 115,972 cases and 111,805 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 4 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 64 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,242 cases and 5,087 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 29,067 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,174, and Lincoln County with 8,073. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,142, Brookings with 3,714, Davison with 3,035, Lawrence with 2,878, and Yankton with 2,877.

Statewide 218,702 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 37% of the state) with 136,315 completing vaccination(over 23% of the state).  Brown County has 10,302 receiving at least one shot & 6,178 completing vaccination.
