SD Dept of Health reports 1 COVID-19 related death, will change their press briefing schedule

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,864. The state had 263 new confirmed cases and 308 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,891. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 102.

So far, South Dakota has had 111,808 confirmed cases and 108,053 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 12 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 61 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,107 confirmed cases and 4,961 recoveries. There’s currently 85 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,837 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,827, and Lincoln County with 7,696. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,965, Brookings with 3,571, Davison with 2,941, Lawrence with 2,813 and Yankton with 2,794.

Statewide 127,096 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 22% of the state) with 64,778 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(under 11% of the state).  Brown County has 6,132 receiving at least one shot & 3,058 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.

South Dakota Department of Health announced today they will be changing their press briefing schedule beginning in March.  The press conferences will be biweekly beginning March 3rd.
