SD Dept of Health reports 1 new COVID-19 related death

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 1 new COVID-related death, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased through Tuesday, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,040. The state had 113 new cases and 78 recoveries, increasing active infections to 208. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 20.

So far, South Dakota has had 124,750 cases and 122,502 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 1 new case and 3 recoveries. The county currently has 7 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,647 cases and 5,545 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,771 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,970, and Lincoln County with 8,725, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,657, Brookings with 4,239, Davison with 3,252, Yankton with 3,114, and Lawrence with 3,020.

Statewide 371,893 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 57% of the state) with 350,359 completing vaccination(over 53% of the state). Brown County has 17,748 receiving at least one shot & 16,990 completing vacciination.

The South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, July 21st.
